A research scientist assigned to the experimental Chernobyl 2 Nuclear Facility, the reactor's shielding proved inadequate to the power generated by the next-generation core, lethally irradiating all personnel currently assigned to the facility.

In order to save his life, Ruchkin quickly assembled a makeshift survival suit from the technology at hand, prolonging his life. Over the years since, he has continued to upgrade his suit, adding additional advancements as well as offensive capabilities utilizing the massive radiation his body now independently generates. His teammate, Ursa Minor, has been key in aiding Ruchkin to stay ahead of the agonizing radioactive death constantly threatening him.
