Floyd Clayton is a physical education teacher and coach at Riverdale High School. He is husband to Alice Clayton and father to Chuck Clayton. He is in excellent physical shape himself  and is also a mentor-like figure to his students, offering advise on various problems and dilemmas of their lives. Several stories since the late 1980s have called him "Harry".
