Toni Topaz first appeared in Jughead's Double Digest Magazine #176 - The Christmas Challenge / A Season to Remember as a new love interest for Jughead created by Tom DeFalco and George Gladir. Created to bring more diversity to the modern age of Archie comics.

Major Story Arcs

The newest rival to Jughead’s eating contest crown, Toni Topaz is a tough girl who sports pink hair with her purple jumpsuit. She finally met her competition at a cupcake-eating contest, where Jughead was surprised to discover that his sister Jelly Bean had run off. Toni offered her assistance along with her sarcastic BFFs Snarky and Hammer. Jug forfeited the challenge after finding Jelly Bean, and Toni still hopes to defeat him one day.

Toni later returned as a trusted friend and romantic interest for Jughead, although she didn't do much outside of giving a few quirky one liners. She was present during Archie's crew holidays, being among the friends group, as well as joining them during their time as camp counselors. She continues to be a potential love choice for Jughead, something as of right now has yet to occur outside of the occasional back and forth flirting.

Riverdale

Toni is a main character in season two-seven of Riverdale played by Vanessa Morgan, starting off as possible love interest for Jughead and a member of the Southside Serpents, however she comes out as bisexual, and shortly after that start a relationship with Cheryl Blossom.

She was eventually kicked out of her gang, when caught stealing from the rich for her own personal gain, resulting in the creation of the Pretty Poisons, a women only biker gang created by Toni and Cheryl.
