Scott Martin was an Earth B Geologist who discovered fragments of the crystals in an underground cave that housed a massive underground city. Scott defeated the city's ruler Tyrnos in a battle of wills and the crystal embedded itself in his hardhat's lamp holder, so he became The Beacon.
He eventually meet the Beacon of Earth A, a woman who used a similar power. Both Beacons used alien Ko-Dan power crystals as a weapon. The crystals emit different colours for different actions:
- Red - Absorb energy
- Green - Superstrength
- Yellow - Defense
