Street Fighter Series

Dan's father, Go Hibiki, was a rival of Sagat. Go gouged out Sagat's eye and Sagat killed him in retaliation. Dan vowed revenge and seeked Gouken, Ryu and Ken's master to train with him. Gouken sensed Dan's vengeful heart and expelled him from his Dojo. Dan became angry and decided he doesn't need to train with Gouken but instead, he'll develop his own fighting style, the Saikyō-ryū, "The Strongest Style". His current student is Sakura Kasugano, he is also a good friend to Blanka.

Video Game Background

Dan was first made as a parody of SNK's Ryo Sakazaki and Robert Garcia, mimicking their moves, appearance and stances, but made into a joke character, pretty much useless in a fight.

Dan's debut was in SF Alpha, where he is considered to be the lowest tiered character, no player selects Dan in a serious game. However, recently, in SFIV, his skill set and playability was upgraded which bumped up his tier ranking above Makoto, Hakan and Gen.

Despite his weakness, he is still considered a fan favorite and has found a place to Street Fighter fan's hearts with his wacky antics while fighting.
