Ray is a huge film lover who wanted to go to the School of Visual Arts, but his father persuaded him to go to Princeton instead. His father, Ed, is a huge diamond merchant and Ray is slated to take over the business. He isn't really interested, but he'll do it.

However, his sister Esther put together a complex plan to get their father's will changed so that they get almost all his money. Then she got Grendel to show up to kill Ed. He died of a heart attack before Grendel could kill him. She then persuaded Ray to come along with him, telling him that they could use the money to make some of the films he always dreamed about. Ray then picked up the gun of Lieutenant Polk, who was there investigating the plot, and killed him.

However, their accounts were frozen and they died of starvation in Brazil.
