Colonel Tigh is Bill Adama's oldest friend, having served together for almost 30 years. Although a capable leader and XO, his abrasive personality and alcohol abuse can cause strain with his subordinates.
During the occupation of New Caprica Tigh was tortured for months in solitary confinement and lost an eye in the process.
When Tigh was revealed to be one of the Final Five Cylons he kept his secret to himself and the other Five, always straining to keep a grip on his humanity.
