Many expected that Gasgano to beat Sebulba in the Boonta Eve Classic. As it turned out, he did beat the unlucky Sebulba, but still finished second behind Anakin Skywalker. In his off hours, Gasgano was a fastidious fellow who considered himself intellectually superior to his fellow racers. Ironically, he transformed into an ugly bar brawler whenever he'd had too much to drink.
