Origin
Goldfinger is a businessman and a gold smuggler, operating out of Switzerland. His master plan was contaminating Fort Knox with radiation, making all gold stored there unusable for decades. This was expected to force the market price of gold up, increasing the worth of his own extensive gold reserves. He was killed in a plane crash.
Goldfinger returned alive and well in the television series James Bond Junior. The series added a teenaged daughter of Auric, Goldie.
