Jason Gridley invented the Gridley Wave device and with it established communications with Pellucidar. He learns from Abner Perry that David Innes is under the custody of the Korsars and mounts a rescue expedition of which Tarzan takes part. He is also friends with occasional Tarzan's associate Erich von Harben and his sister Gretchen.
