Origin
Jim Phelps is the leader of an IMF team. They are called to stop terrorism and any form of wrongs which are aimed at the United States. He selects other IMF agents to help carry out the plan usually with mis-direction and scare talents. He has been an agent for IMF since the 1960s.
Creation
Jim Phelps was created for the 1967 Mission: Impossible TV-series, and later revival which ran from 1988 to 1990. Jim Phelps character returned in the 1996 Mission: Impossible movie where he was made a villain. Greg Morris who played Barry in the 1960-70s Mission: Impossible TV-series was not pleased with the change. He said that the original actor Peter Graves would have been appalled by that because he had made the character be true to his country.
