Creation

Created by Mel Brooks and Buck Henry as a television comedy show that satirized the secret agent and spy genre.  Originally portrayed by the late Don Adams for five seasons from 1965 to 1970 and again for two separate made-for-television movies.  It has retained sufficient popularity that it was remade into a major movie in 2008 with Steve Carell playing the role of the Maxwell Smart.
