Following the death of his elder brother, Alan, while fighting crime as the Green Hornet, Paul Reid reluctantly took over as the new Green Hornet in 1989. Initially he worked alongside Mishi Kato, but when she left for , he partnered up with his uncle and brother's former partner, Hayashi Kato, and later with Hayashi and Mishi's nephew Kono.
