Character Evolution
Lara Croft's father started out with the name of Henshingly Croft in the original games. He and his wife were still alive when Lara was going to her adventures and they disowned her. Henshingly and his wife visited Lara's grave, when she was though to be dead after her adventure in Egypt.
When the first movie adaptation came out. His name was changed to Richard Croft, an archaeologist who died when Lara was young. Which became the basic backstory in later games, but how he died changed with each reboot.
In the Legend trilogy, he was murdered by Natla in Cambodia.
In the latest Survivor trilogy, Richard was assassinated in his own home and made it look like a suicide by the Trinity.
