Originally created for the Japanese TV show Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger in 1992 as a monster of the week villain called Dora Kinkaku. When the show was later adapted into Mighty Morphin Power Rangers in 1993 for a western audience, the character was renamed to Samurai Fan Man.
In Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger Dora Kinkaku was voiced by Shozo Iizuka. In Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Samurai Fan Man was voiced by Tom Wyner.

During the events building up to Darkest Hour, Samurai Fan Man aids Dark Specter's forces in their attack on Earth. Providing a distraction for the forces of Promethea.
TV
Samurai Fan Man made his first appearance in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers as a monster of the week villain in the episode Calamity Kimberly. Making a cameo appearance during a dream sequence in the episode Crystal of Nightmares.
