Sgt. Savage was a highly decorated U.S. Army soldier during World War II. On a mission to destroy a secret enemy research center, his squad Screaming Eagles was captured by General Blitz. Savage was used as a guinea pig for a super soldier process, and was cryogenically frozen for decades. Once un-thawed he joined G.I. Joe.

Sgt. Savage was created in 1994 for the Sgt. Savage and his Screaming Eagles, the collection featured artwork and a 2-part mini-comic illustrated by Joe Kubert.
