After the death of all the men, Alter became the leader of the Israeli army and tried to capture Yorick Brown several times.
Alter is a nickname. It means "Old Man."
Alter's real first name was not given for most of Y: The Last Man. Before she was born her parents had conceived two older brothers to Alter. Both of them were stillborn. Because Alter survived, her parents adopted the superstition that a demon or harbinger of death would end Alter's life if her birth name was spoken. In her final appearance, Tse'Elon declared herself to be finished running from the angel of death and revealed herself as "Yedida, sister of Rachel".
