Glistening

Younglove's husband got sick and almost died; all that remains of him is his head in a jar. Glory buys an old mine and tries to get enough resources from it to pay for treatments to help her husband.

However, Grendel-Prime shows up at the mine. He warns her to stay away, and says that he needs its resources. However, she follows him to watch. He dives in and causes a massive explosion to get at the mine's diamonds. The explosion burns Younglove badly; she is clearly going to die of her injuries. Grendel-Prime comes out with heaps of diamonds--diamonds she was never able to find on her own, and which she could have used for her husband. But now she is in no shape to do so. Grendel-Prime shoots her to put her out of her misery.
