Patches, or Patchface (due to the tattoos covering his face), was born a slave in the Free City of Volantis. A clever boy, with a sharp wit, he became a jester and was eventually discovered by Lord Steffon Baratheon, who was so impressed, that he chose to hired him to serve at Storm's End. However, on the return voyage, a storm sunk their ship, killing all aboard, except Patches. Washed up on the shore three days later, with his mind and body broken, he now only sings odd songs that give strange insights.
