History
Sunshrike, also known as Leah was first the sidekick of the Nightflyer in the 60s and later the mentor of Nightingale, (aka Ginny) in the 80s. A more relaxed and free spirited person in her teen years, Leah would inherit the thoroughness than she would teach to her protegé, Ginny.
From her early adventures, Leah was conscious about the mysterious connection with her mentor Nighflyer and later with her protege, Nightingale. This connection manifested as the constant presence of two powered bird themed women, one of light and one of shadow, from different generation. How long has been this legacy being manifest, it is unknown. However, the carrier of one of the legacies don't need to die, but just to retire to the title to be passed to a new holder.
In her teens, Leah was part of a team of teenagers sidekick heroes who travelled throug the country as a way to mourning the fallen teen heroes, the Jayhawks. There she expresend her acceptation of her destiny as the bird of light.
Years later, when she was serving as mentor of Nightingale, she revealed than she was not a cat person, showing certain disdain for Ginny's pet, Kittyhawk (who indeed had superpowers of his own).
Even if the destiny of Leah is unknown, her role as the bird of light to Nightingale's shadow bird was passed to Sunbird.
