Adolph Gruber first met Lord Peter Flint in Germany during the interwar period and attempted to rob him. In the ensuing altercation, Gruber was wounded by a horse and sustained a permanent limp. Gruber blamed Flint for his injury and swore revenge against him.

Character Development

Gruber became a Gestapo officer at the outbreak of WWII. Wielding a walking stick containing a variety of hidden weapons, he battled Flint many times but consistently failed to kill the British spy.

Following the war Gruber was imprisoned in Germany. He later escaped from prison and went into hiding in South America while his criminal son, Faldo Reburg, battled Flint’s protégé Fireball.
