Agent Maad's name (as well as his partner's) are a deliberate pun on writer Peter David's part of the phrase, "Fighting Mad". Agent Maad was partnered with Donald Fite in the All-Purpose Enforcement Squad. Donald and Ishido acted like family and Donald's daughter Anita (Empress) would even call Ishido "Uncle." After Donald died in an explosion in Louisiana Ishido acted like a father for Anita.
