When Steve Trevor was found on Paradise Island, Princess Diana and her friend Mala brought him to Doctor Althea. She thought that Trevor was beyond saving, but Diana was able to revive him using the Purple Healing Ray. Althea later told Queen Hippolyta about Diana's attraction to Steve Trevor. She remained the physician on Paradise Island until Crisis, where Epione replaced her.
She bears a striking resemblance to Metala, another Amazon.
