Aquaman took an interest in the electoral proceedings, vowing to help Wake get elected and expose Mason for his crimes. But Mason easily countered their every effort through use of government services .
He was only defeated when he tried to drug Aquaman's sea creatures and Arthur lost patience with using legitimate means. Treating Mason to the effects of a whirlpool and threatening to let Mason at the mercy of Topo, provided a quick public confession.
