Brute was created by James Tynion IV and Mikel Janin. Tynion explained his concept for Brute as similar to Bane's portrayal in Batman & Robin, pumped full of Venom, but without any of Bane's actual intelligence.
Arkham War
Scarecrow's army was attacking Bane's in Gotham's streets. They duplicated the Man-Bat serum. The fighting stopped when the Man-Bats retreat and Brute was impaled with a radio tower antenna.
