A former nun, Bumper now runs a brothel and heads a prostitution ring in Bete Noire. Her activities are approved by Doctor Juris, the city's magistrate. She's in fact his head of vice operations. Daughter of a star general, she has a respect for the rules of ethics despite her line of work. She makes it her duty to never work with minors.

Wilde, a man who wanted to get his hands on a religious relic, had arranged to meet Black Mariah at his establishment without asking her permission. Bumper had no choice but to accept, faced with the fact. She therefore witnesses their meeting and Lee's sudden arrival through one of her windows. When she understands that Wilde possesses Black Mariah's spiritual death, Bumper threatens to kill him if he doesn't hand it over to her. Wilde tells her that if he dies, he will lose control of Black Mariah's death and she will die instantly. Bumper will then stay away, while Lee will threaten Wilde in her own way.

A few months later, Lee shows up at her establishment after leaving Bete Noire to give birth. She has too much rage and believes that she could take advantage of carnal pleasures to evacuate some of it. Bumper explains to her that everyone is afraid of her, given her superhuman physical strength. Lee explains that she can control herself and Bumper agrees to introduce her to candidates.

While they are talking in Bumper's room, Bumper sees on one of her surveillance screens a couple who have just arrived at Bete Noire to put an end to all operations that touch on vice and pornography. They are J.J. Sachs and Ernie Violens, from Sachs and Violens. Bumper panics and asks Lee to help her get rid of them, in exchange for the services of her debauchery house for the rest of her days, for free. Lee accepts.

Lee later learns that J.J. Sachs is actually Bumper's sister, who is ashamed of what she does and did not want her sister to know about her activities.
