Burton Thompson was the director of the STAR Labs in Metropolis. He was conducting research that he didn't want Superman to know about. However, the Parasite caused the creatures that he was experimenting on to escape.

Thompson made his animation debut in the Young Justice series episode "Runaways". Here he was depicted as a guard at the STAR Labs in Taos, New Mexico. He attempts to stop the four super-powered teens (Virgil, Sam, Ed, and Tye) from escaping. He is thwarted twice in his attempts to bring them back to STAR Labs. Later, when Red Volcano attacks STAR Labs, Blue Beetle and the runaways help fight. Thompson was trapped under some girders and Virgil helped free him and bring him to safety.
