Origin

The daughter of Larry and Lauren Marcus, Carla was raised in New York. At some point she met and began dating Jake Jordan, with whom she had a good relationship, until he was involved in an accidental shooting. She remained with him, but grew increasingly impatient with his inability to move on.

Creation

Carla Marcus was created by Grant Morrison and Cameron Stewart. She made her first appearance in Seven Soldiers: Guardian #1.

Major Story Arcs

Seven Soldiers of Victory

Carla argues with Jake about money, as he is currently unemployed, which partially spurs him to take the position of the Manhattan Guardian. Shortly thereafter, she and her father take the subway to meet Jake, but are waylaid by All-Beard's pirates. She is captured, while her father is killed. Jake is able to rescue her and several other pirate captives. She withdraws from Jake for a time following her father's death, and breaks off their relationship on the night he attempts to propose. Later, she and her mother become caught up in the simultaneous Sheeda invasion and hurricane. Attempting to flee through the chaos, she nearly crashes into Zatanna. She is rescued by Jake, whom she realizes she still loves. The pair reconcile, and together survive the invasion.
