Dasor is the chairman of the human High Council of Solar Delegates, a board consisting of humans and colonists inhabiting the solar system, at the dawn of the 58th century. When faced with dire political and military crises, Dasor's has resorted to summoning Hal Jordan through time travel, since no super-heroes live in his time. During the time travel process, Jordan's memory was initially erased, leading Dasor to create an alter-ego named Pol Manning for Jordan's stay in the future (and causing Jordan to forget he had been in the future when his stay had ended).
