General Somerset was the man in charge of the military initiative called Number of the Beast, following the work of Miles Craven and General Zebulon McCandles. However he made the mistake to include Eidolon and the High to the program, causing a chain of events than lead to the end of the world.

When Somerset came into knowledge than the High was rebuilding his body, he grew worried about how his presence would impact in the Number of the Beast program. Opting for the cancelation of the program and elimination of all the SPB trapped there, Somerset lost control of the situation. Eventually all the Supers escaped and the Reaper initiatives countermeasures where launched: clones of the High than caused the earth to shift off its axis, triggering a number of extinction level events causing the end of the world. Somerset was trapped in the Pentagon along with Slyxx, the daemonite "consultor" and received a warning from the High, than later he will go after him.
