Gnomon is an Immortal being and father of The Signal (Duke Thomas). Prior to his son's birth, Elaine fled to Gotham and married Doug Thomas in order to hide Duke from Gnomon. Elaine reactivating her powers led to Gnomon coming to Gotham to reclaim his son and create an army of metahumans for him to command.
