The first woman calling herself th Hummingbird was Hester Morgan. She became an enemy of the Golden Age Hawkman. Hester Morgan was an ornithnolgist who had multiple scientific degrees. She found that sexism blocked her efforts and pursuits to use her training in making money. She fashioned winglike gliders and used a blinding magnesium flashbulb to launch her one woman crime spree, with a concentration in being a jewel thief.
