James "Jim" Garrison was one of the foursome crew of the space shuttle Excalibur as the pilot of the ship.
However, when the experimental contaiments of experimental kryptonite commisioned by Lexcorp, were broken, the team was exposed to cosmic radiation than tranformed them in fantastic ways. Afected by the radiation, Jim did his greatest effort to land the ship, but the Excalibur was destroyed in the impact.
As consequence of the radiation poisoning, the body of Jim was destroyed but his mind tried to rebuilt him using everything than was around the site of the crash: stones, metal, plastic, wood, parts of the ship. His monstruous form still retained his intelligence and feel pain but it couldn't talk.
As the team wnt to Lexcorp in Metropolis to found a solution, Superman appeared and tried to help the group. But meanwhilehe was helping to Terri Henshaw, Jim, tormented by the pain,choose to terminate his existence by trapped himself in a electromagnetic resonance chamber.
Jim was a homage to Ben Grimm, aka the Thing, a member of the Fantastic Four.
