Creation
Gwydion was created by Grant Morrison and Ryan Sook. He made his first appearance in Seven Soldiers: Zatanna #1. He is loosely based on Merlin.

King Ra-Man greets the members of the Spectral Services as they enter his realm. He apologises for being unable to accompany them, due to his need to defend against an ongoing invasion of the monasteries of the Exalted Ones. He opens the Cellars of Buddhakamun to allow the group to continue their journey.
