King Ryus is the king of Xebel, a pocket dimension where exiled people are sent from Atlantis, and father of Mera.

He trained Mera to be an assassin and then sent her to kill Aquaman, who he thought was the king of Atlantis.

Creation

Neol was created by Aquaman writer Geoff Johns and artist Joe Prado. He made his debut in Aquaman#6.

Powers & Abilities

Ryus is a Xebelian (an Atlantean offshoot) and possesses their typical superhuman abilities.

Superhuman Strength

Ryus like all Xebelians has some degree of superhuman strength.

Enhanced Durability

Ryus like all Atlanteans has some degree of enhanced durability.

Enhanced Speed

Ryus can swim at superhuman speeds, boosted by his water control, though not as fast as Mera.

Underwater Adaptation

He can function normally underwater and is able to withstand the high pressures and extreme temperatures of the deep.

Leadership

He is the king and leader of the Atlantean colony of Xebel.

Intellect

Ryus is the military leader of Xebel and trains his daughter to be an assassin.

Water Control

Ryus like all Xebelians has control over water, though to a greater degree since he is strong enough to open the portal from Xebel to Earth's oceans on his own.

Ryus wears a variation of the standard Xebelian armor.
