Ned Norton is a Hollywood Director who was renowned for being unreliable. He later worked for Argus Pictures under Mr. Bentley.
Creation
Ned Norton was created by legendary comic-duo Bill Finger and Bob Kane. He first appeared in Detective Comics #40 in which Basil Karlo (The 1st Clayface) also made his debut.
Major Story Arcs
The Murders of Clayface
Ned Norton is hired by Mr. Bentley to direct "Dreadcastle", an upcoming horror film. Norton later went missing for several days and was subsequently fired from his directing duties. Norton later reappears and questions Bentley's decision to remove him from the film, eventually threatening him. After the murder of Lorna Dane, Norton is one of the prime suspects. However, Basil Karlo turns out to be the killer.
The Coming of Clayface
Norton plays the same role in this retelling as he did in the original story. However, this time his appearance has swapped with Fred Walker and Bentley takes up his directing role after firing him.
