Origin

Rami was one of the original Guardians of the Universe, but he was exiled for doing the unthinkable. He created the most dangerous weapon ever, The Phantom Ring, a power ring that could be wielded by anyone. This act made him Rani, The Rogue Guardian.

Creation

Rami was created by Geoff Johns for his run on Green Lanterns and although he appeared in a Emerald Vision in issue 1, it was not until issue 3 that he was introduced fully and not util issue 4 he was named.

Rami breaks into Sira Baz and Nazir Amar's home sensing that there is Green Lantern energy nearby. He asks to speak to the Green Lantern of Earth, Hal Jordan or he will settle for John Stewart, not know that Simon Baz and Jessica Cruz are the current Green Lantern.

He stays with Sira and Nazir while they try to contact Simon, who is busy saving the Earth from Atrocitus and his Red Lantern Corps. While there he plays with Farid Amar and showing through magic where he lived the last thousand years.

When Simon and Jessica return home, Rami formally introduces himself and explains he needs Hal Jordan to protect him and his latest invention, the Phantom Ring.

Rami is in Sira and Nazir's attic meditating, when he gets a vision and the sense that the Dominators are coming for the Phantom Ring. He leaves the house to hide and look out for them.

He finds a safe spot in the clock tower, and that is where Simon and Jessica find him, he flees from them, knowing that the Dominators can track their Green Lantern Energy. Rami makes it to the woods outside of town but is blind sided by a pair of Dominators. This time, Jessica and Simon come to his aid and defeat the bounty hunters.

Rami then agrees to let them protect him and promises not to run away.
