Origin

Sienna is a college student who lives with her roommate Kayleigh. She once attended a live performance by Black Canary and her band, which proved to be a moving experience for her. Following the reported deaths of the Justice League, Sienna was in a music store when it was held up by a robber, who Sienna knocked out with a guitar. This both made her want to play the guitar and become a hero, thus Sienna adopted her costumed identity.

Dark Crisis

Red Canary took part in the battle against Pariah at the Hall of Justice, before accidentally joining Robin's mission into the multiverse. Throughout the mission, Robin berated her for her lack of experience and powers, which diminished her confidence before meeting a very much alive Black Canary and getting to fight alongside her. Black Canary's confidence in her was able to re-ignite Red Canary's confidence in herself.

Lazarus Planet

When Lazarus resin rained on Seattle, various statues were brought to life and fought off by Red Canary and Sideways. One of these statues, a bronze pig named Rachel, attacked the coffee shop her brother Leo works at. After the young heroes dealt with it, Red Canary confided in Sideways how she felt pressured by the expectations placed on her by her family. Sideways encouraged her to keep fighting, and after spotting a "now hiring" sign in a music store, she decided that she should follow her own path.
