Origin

Johnny Kirk lived with his father Morton Kirk in a remote lab. When his father saw a planetoid heading for Earth, he summarized that the Earth would be destroyed when it impacts, and sent Johnny into space with a spaceship he had created. Johnny grew up on an primeval alien planet, and managed to find his way back to Earth thanks to the books his father had put in the spaceship.

Since the Kirks lived in isolation, they didn't know of Superman, and only after Johnny was sent into space did his father saw how Superman had diverted the planetoid and saved Earth. Morton was heartbroken and fell ill, but asked Superman to adopt Johnny if he ever returns.

Major Story Arcs

Arriving at Earth, Johnny was greeted by Superman, who bonded with him over his similar origin story. Superman honored Morton's request and decided to adopt and train Johnny. Together they stopped a forest fire, robbers and a train collision. Johnny started noticing that superman is holding back more and more, but one night he overheard superman talking in his sleep on how he is loosing his powers due to some space dust that was attached to Johnny's spaceship. As fate would have it, a meteor entered the solar system, and Johnny tricked Superman to believe it is Kryptonite, as he knew he would sacrifice himself for the planet and him. In truth is was a special kind of meteor that enabled a power transference from Johnny to Superman. This restored Superman to his previous powers but left Johnny as a regular human. Superman was proud to call him as his son, and vowed to never forget him.
