He was a weakling as a result of a "rare disease" he contracted when visiting Hong Kong with his uncle.
Allan Vale is also an inventor of genius and an idolizer of Superboy. His uncle developed a super formula. Supremo uses his super-strength and invulnerability to assist Superboy in several heroic feats before tragically succumbing to the incurable disease. (Super-Boy disguised himself as Super-strong dragon-creature, Supremo heroically fought him, and beat the creature but died as a result from his disease. He died as a Hero!)
