Origin

Thaaros was the son of a rich and kind Durlan and lived a nice peaceful life, that was until one night when his father came home and beat him. His father showed no emotion nor spoke as he repeatedly hit his terrified son. Then when Thaaros finally asked, "why?", the adult revealed to be an Durlan in Thaaros's father disguise.

The Durlan explained there was a coo at the capital, and he had killed Thaaros's father. He was now beating Thaaros to prove that if Thaaros ever came after him for revenge he would easily defeat Thaaros and kill him with the same knife that he used to kill his father.

Years later Thaaros found the Durlan and attacked him. It was only due to a lucky break that Thaaros survived but the Durlan escaped. Thaaros vowed that day to find the Durlan and enact his revenge. This lead Thaaros to joining the United Planets and fighting and tricking his way to the top.

Creation

Thaaros was created by Daniel Sampere and Phillip Kennedy Johnson and frist appeared in Action Comics #1036.

Refugees from Euphorix arrive on Durlan and Thaaros treats them kindly and with great respect. This is while the cameras are on, but once the cameras turn off, Thaaros shows his true contempt for the poor and destitute. He ships all the refugees off to the slums and talks about he would love to just send them off into space.

Thaaros is then informed the noble's son Varron has broken the Earth quarantine and has gone missing. Thaaros then send his agents to go find the wayward son with the orders to either bring him back alive or bring back some to blame for his death.
