Much like it's namesake this creature nested itself inside Barbie's childhood dreams. wishing only to one day escape and lay more eggs in more peoples dreams, even if it meant destroying the dream world Barbie had populated, and anyone in it. To do this the Cuckoo took the form of Barbie as a young girl, and enlisted one of her childhood toys as a spy.

The cuckoo is also able to send out agents into the waking world, this caught the attention of Thessaly, a witch who had no objection to entering Barbie's dreams to teach the Cuckoo a lesson.

After Morpheus became involved the Cuckoo was spared and Barbie and Thessaly were returned to the waking world.
