In late 1800s Gotham City, Thurston Moody hires Jonah Hex to find his son who he believes to be abducted. The trail leads Hex and partner Amadeus Arkham to an operation underneath the streets of Gotham where abducted children had been put into slave labor to build the sewer. After breaking up the slavery ring, Hex and Arkham learn that Moody had been in charge of the operation, and would later find his son at the family of the house of the family that tipped them off to the sewer operation. When Hex, Arkham and the police show up to Moody's mansion (adorned with numerous owls, hinting at his possible membership within the Court of Owls, a secret organization hidden within the centuries of Gotham's history) they learned that Moody has fled New Orleans
