Two-Gun Percy and his talking horse Horace, who seemed to walk on two legs as often as he did four, was a Western parody strip crated by Joe Samchson, who along with writing many scripts for DC for established characters such as Batman and Green Arrow also wrote the first J’onn J’onzz Manhunter from mars story and is credited as the co-creator of Tomahawk. He also wrote a number of the Captain Future stories for the Pulps.

Two-Gun Percy was a broad spoof of the western genre in a style that would become common with the coming of such magazines as Mad and Cracked.

Two-Gun and Horace however had their adventures ten years before Mad’s first appearance, the artwork was supplied by Bernard Baily or sometimes Jimmy Thompson.
