When Whisper A'Daire and Kyle Abbot come to Gotham City in an attempt to take over the city for Ra's al Ghul they set their sights on taking down the crime families already fighting over the new turf. Unfortunately for Vasily this puts him and the Russian Odessa Mob in their cross hairs.
Abbot kills Ekin Tzu wife and daughter and frames it on Vasily. This causes the Odessa and the Triad to got to open war, so Abbot uses the confusion to kidnap Vasily and deliver him and Emanuel Escabedo to a church when Whisper presents the pair to Ekin and Able Crown as gift for their loyalty.
Ekin wastes no time and kills Vasily while Batman is across the street dealing with Whisper and the hero is only able to watch helpless as Vasily and Escabedo are gunned down.
