Squareonthehypothenus is a young architect employed to built the "Mansions of the Gods", a new Roman colony placed next to Asterix's village. Julius Caesar figuring the village would eventually be absorbed into the colony. However the architect only completed a single building fit for occupants. Getafix used his magic to keep trees growing wherever Squareonthehypothenus' slave workers opened a clearing. The youth becomes more and more authoritarian and less and less civilised! He suffers a nervous brakedown
