Creation
Elsa is a Disney update on the story of the Snow Queen from 1944 by Hans Christian Anderson (The character Hans from Frozen is named after him.) In the start of Frozen's production, Elsa was intended to actually be the Snow Queen, a villain with a heart of ice and dead skin. However it was decided a story of two sisters being united was a better take, altering the story of Snow Queen enough that Elsa is considered a separate character.
Major Story Arcs
Elsa was born with ice powers as a curse. As Elsa grew so did her powers. Elsa creates an ice castle, also giving her an ice dress. Anna leaves the castle due to Marshmallow Elsa's snow monster. Prince Hans of The Southern Isles, shows up to capture Elsa after she freezes the shipyard Elsa does get captured and knocked out by a chandelier then sent to a dungeon soon to be executed. Elsa is not the only one who is about die , as Anna is freezing to death after a fake kiss from Hans. Anna gets saved by Olaf and Elsa figures out the secret to killing her storm is love. Now Elsa once again rules as queen of Arendelle.

Elsa is a major character in the show's fourth season, making her live action debut played by Georgina Haig. The flashbacks, take place shortly after Frozen during the preparations of the wedding between Anna and Kristoff. Elsa helped the heroes face her evil aunt, The Snow Queen.
