Gideon McDuck is a character appearing in the Disney comics. He was created by Romano Scarpa in 1956 and is based on Mario Gentilini, who was editor and director of the Topolino comics magazine, which published the Disney comics in Italy. In the comics, he is Scrooge McDuck's younger brother and sometimes rival. He is the editor of Duckburg's County Conscience newspaper, which is the competitor of his brother's newspaper The Duckburg Chronicle.
