Best friend of José Carioca created by Hubie Karp for the comic strips in 1940's. He also appears in Zé Carioca stories produced in Brazil and the Netherlands. In Germany, the Netherlands, and Finland, Nestor is called Manuel. Nestor is a vulture, but is often called a crow in the US. His outfit is inspired by the Clube de Regatas do Flamengo, whose mascot is also a vulture.

Nestor's personality is friendly, and he can also be described as clumsy, as he often has poor luck. Nestor often finds himself in the middle of José's schemes after he is roped into them by his best friend, and when they go wrong he often gets the short end of the stick. He will sometimes land a job, but this will also usually be ruined by José. Zé and Nestor will often steal the jackfruits of their friend, Pedrão. Nestor's other friends include Afonsinho and João.
