The third in his family to bear the mantle of American Eagle, Alex Russell was a former Naval pilot before exposure to radiation from a terrorist's bomb activated his latent genetic potential, granting him immense physical powers and the ability to fly.
After making a name for himself, Alex was contacted by the United Nations to be one of the founding members of their newly-reformed First Guard team. Along with other heroes, Alex continues to defend the world from any and all threats both from his home in Philadelpha, Pennsylvania, as well as from the First Guard's headquarters, Liberty Plaza, located in Washington, D.C.
